Banking & Corporate Law
Athena advises banks and bank holding companies on the acquisition of other banks and bank holding companies, assists in the merger of bank equals, and helps create bank and financial holding companies. She works with banks to establish and acquire branch banks.
Athena has negotiated on behalf of Wisconsin's community banks to resolve issues with the FDIC, OCC, DFI and the Minneapolis and Chicago Federal Reserve. Another major part of her practice involves negotiating and drafting employment and other compensation arrangements for banks and their officers and directors. In addition, Athena works closely with the Wisconsin Bankers Association and its subsidiary, FIPCO, to expand FIPCO's loan and deposit offerings in Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois and other states. She also assists the WBA's legal department in response to legal questions of WBA members.
