Cathy conducts all types of litigation with an emphasis on complex federal court litigation and appellate advocacy.

  • Served two years as a judicial law clerk to The Honorable Barbara B. Crabb, United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin

  • Vehicle IP v. GM Corp., et al. (W.D. Wis.) – local counsel in patent dispute concerning turn-by-turn navigation software
  • Digene v. Third Wave Technologies (W.D. Wis.) – local counsel for Digene in patent dispute concerning HPV diagnostic for cervical cancer
  • 3M v. Kerr Corp. (W.D. Wis.) – local counsel for 3M in patent dispute concerning dental composite materials that ended in a favorable settlement
  • Payday Loans v. City of Madison (W.D. Wis.) – defense counsel in 14th Amendment lawsuit ending in successful summary judgment
  • Baker v. Pro Floor (W.D. Wis.) – defense counsel in Title VII dispute that ended in successful summary judgment
  • Balogun v. Capitol Indemnity (W.D. Wis.) – defense counsel in Title VII dispute that ended in voluntary dismissal after moving to dismiss
  • O’Hern v. Brown County (E.D. Wis.) – defense counsel in suit involving due process rights under the Fourteenth Amendment that ended in favorable settlement
  • Baldozier v. American Family (D. Colo./MDL) – defense counsel in nationwide collective action brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Ole Mexican Foods v. Latino Foods (W.D. Wis./7th Cir.) -- successful summary judgment on 16 claims and $1 million jury verdict, both upheld on appeal
  • Volvo Trucks N.A. v. Reeder-Simco (U.S. Supreme Court) – authored amicus brief on behalf of National Automobile Dealers Association involving antitrust law under the Robinson-Patman Act
  • Ovadal v. City of Madison (U.S. Supreme Court) – authored brief in opposition to petition for certiorari involving free-speech rights under the First Amendment
  • American Family v. Smith (U.S. Supreme Court) – authored petition for certiorari involving class-action rights under the Fourteenth Amendment
